Episode 1

Perkins Harnly - S101

Today we are talking about Perkins Harnly a watercolor artist of the 1930s. This is an episode 1 re-do mainly because of the terrible editing, so if you want to listen with better editing skills and the new intro then here you go!

Special thanks to my brother for creating the intro/outro, and my last bottle of wine for the breaks.

This is where he meets Rocky Schneck. And later, Bill Paxson. Yes, Bill Paxton, the movie star. The one that didn't titanic. That's the first thing that ever pops in my head. Even though he's not really a main character in that movie, he's just kind of like a side character. But yes, Bill Paxson and Tom Huckabee. Perkins would call these young guys the kids. For some reason, Perkins was madly in love with Bill Paxson, and he even created a painting for Bill. But Bill was like, nah, this is creepy. And he unfortunately gave it away. And no one has seen this painting surface since, so I guess we won't know how creepy it is. If it does surface, I really want to see what this would look like. Now, the kids took care of Perkins when he was ill, and he ended up living with Tom Huckabee.

But it'd probably be super fun if you ask me. I really wish there was more on Perkins life, but unfortunately, it's hard to find anything on him. And I'm sure a lot of the stories that he told a lot of his friends that are getting passed down between generations, we don't know if those are true or not concerning. He did tell lies, but it would be kind of cool if anybody has any more cool stories about him. If you haven't seen Perkins work, I highly suggest you do so. It is beautiful and his works are to be cherished, and it's just a little piece of art history, and we all need that in life. Thank you for joining me on this Art History adventure and joining me again on episode one, Redone with Better Everything. Make sure to go review me on Apple podcast.

I do have a Patreon page if you'd like to see behind the scenes content. And don't forget to follow me on Instagram.
